This is a short tutorial on how to give sprites a transparent background by using Gimp. Gimp is a free image editing program available for download at this site http://www.gimp.org/ After you learn the keyboard shortcuts and get used to the program this process should take less than a minute :)

note:
This is for after you've finished working on the sprite (recolored, spliced,or whatever). If you just randomly saw a sprite you liked you would have to add in the one color background in Paint then resize the canvas. If it's a picture, you have to render it,but that's not covered in this vid.

  • so... when i make the animation with transparency, the first frame is still there even when the next frame shows in, how can i fiz that??????????

    PLZ ANSWER FAST

  • @Wakeman42 late, but if you mean .gifs then you can't do transparent backgrounds on those because it'll leave "trails", try a white background instead or a color that matches the background of the website where you'll use it.

  • how do u make a sprite?

  • Depends what style of spriting you're interested in doing, you can make scratches, re/de vamps, splices, recolors and a whole bunch others. You can probably Google guides once you know what you want to try. And if you're asking what a sprite is then it's a collection of pixels laid out in a manner that creates an image when viewed as a whole.
