Tracey Huguley, film maker, documents the life and work of Ashley Saunders. Ashley Saunders is a poet, artist, writer, historian, intellect, bush doctor, teacher, philosopher, and humanitarian. After leaving his island to get an education Ashley eventually was accepted and went to Harvard. He left Harvard to go back to Bimini and "raise up the people of Bimini", build a junior high school and high school, write books and poetry about Bimini, and build the internationally acclaimed Dolphin House. Ashley could have had anything he wanted. He chose to go back to Bimini and work with the Bimini people.
Ashely carries with him the oral tradition of his family for generations of bush medicine. This knowledge will be lost forever if it is not preserved. Tracey Huguley is working on telling Ashley's life story, preserving the knowledge of Bimini bush medicine, and showing all of us what one woman or man can do if he/she commits their mind, body and spirit fully.
We are capable of so much. Ashley is an example of this capacity that we all have.
