Thanks for the insight.

While canada isn't united states there are many grievances that canadians share with the occupy wall street movement. Income inequality in canada might not be as big as the US but it is growing faster in canada than the US. Our healthcare system has slowly degraded. Our banks might not have needed bailouts but we still have industries in Canada that only survive due to government subsidization. Corruption is bound to seep into our politics now that the per vote subsidy has been eliminated.

@shmiggen No thanks, I think I'd prefer not to.

@NuclearThermos you may proceed, but with caution.

@shmiggen I'll take the name calling as an indication that you do not wish to continue this discussion.

@NuclearThermos rule by some people (who are elected) over others. fixed that for ya, jaggoff.
-
@shmiggen No, it's rule by some people over others. Plato 101.
-
@NuclearThermos No, it isn't. It's merely rule by the people, that's all.

@shmiggen Oh come off it. Democracy is not some panacea.
Dude, you should watch this awesome show on TVO called the Agenda with Steve Paikin...
They did this show about two months ago about the ever widening gap between the rich and the poor in Canada, as compared to Canadian stats from 30 years ago.
Our system is their system.
Did both your parents have to work just to get by? Didn't think so... Do you and your spouse?
We are headed into exactly the American situation. If they make change and we do not.
We can wave as they pass us by!

Even if the US implemented a progressive tax system, their deficit would disappear virtually overnight. In Canada, we don't have that "tax room." We're in the worst possible situation.
