comparing the chops of music artists is mandatory for any phoney listener! On listening to this song for the first time, I thought word-for-word "IT'S NITRO DONE RIGHT!"

I saw them live twice, 86/87. In 1987, Konghállen, Gjesdal, Norway. They performed this then;-)

no, it's tony harnell^^ but tony is a good friend of jaime vendera, a student of jim gillette (jaime learned breaking glass with his voice from jim)
btw, jim is fucking awesome!

Not trying to be a troll or an ass..
but what does that have to do with anything ? :P
Harnell is in the business since 1980 ,and Jim since 1986...
And all Jim can do is raise his voice high, his vocal harmony's are nothing specials and all the notes he sings are in falsetto. He's sounds like a broken version of female King Diamond on most of Nitro songs :P
While Tony fry's high octave notes like a boss, and he's an overall x1000 times better singer :D
Btw,great song :)

well i would say they're different.
tony is a natural master of harmonies and singing in general. jim is/was just a fuckin vocal machine, 31second high screams, overtone singing, glass shattering. jaime refers to himself as "vocal athlete", and that's exactly what jim is, too.
it's all opinions, but you have to admit that both make amazing use of their voice.

I can't deny the technicalities of Jim's singing but he sounds terrible and unemotional. He claims he doesn't use falsetto, but that's a big fat lie. He's just smoothed his breaking point out.
Tony Harnell is on the other hand, an unbelieveably emotional and aggressive singer. A little too much vibrato on the classic TNT recordings for my taste, but you just gotta fall in love with his unusual singing. So good it hurts. His deeper voices are almost better than his high register.

opinions, dude. I love both, for different reasons. I also love king diamond and midnight (crimson glory), but they're all so different, you can't just compare them that easily. singing is an artform. would you compare a da vinci with a picasso?
