My friend Dave Uchansky, who plays Reggie Horton in the upcoming retro sci-fi "Max Neptune and the Menacing Squid," gave me the idea to write an Oscar's Song. I intend to see this fantastic film win some kudos at the 2011 Academy Awards. Lawrence August gave me the title.
These are the lyrics I cobbled:
Its oscar night
everyone please sit tight
everyone will win the right
to hold a trophy to the balconys on high
while the cameras roll
and thank the world
Let your freedom be your Avatar
Leave behind your former hurt locker
No need to be a serious man
Your life is too precious to spend
Alienated in district 9 again
Keep going up up up in the air
Keep going up up up in the air
When we examine
Where we got an education
Some from inglourious basterds
Some from a few genius masters
Well turn off all the blind side-ers
That turn you mad mad mad
Keep going up up up in the air
Keep going up up up in the air
Keep going up up up in the air
you took the tiiles of the 10 nominated fims and made it flow like a river on a
steamy summer afternoon
