  • @futoncat Actually, the Buddha is said to have died from eating tainted mushrooms (underground growing truffles) that were called, "pig's delight" because pigs loved them, and this was mistranslated as him eating meat. Also, it was well-known that Buddhist monks were vegetarians, and donating meat to a Buddhist monk was an unthinkable insult, and there are also scriptural references to the Buddha instructing monks not to eat any meat that is put into their begging bowls.

  • Man it would be awesome if Vegsource made these available on demand! DOOOOO ITTTTT! ;p

  • Buddhists don't necessarily not eat meat. The monks eat what is given to them as donations. Some sects did not eat meat, but largely, they ate what they were given as donations, whether that be meat or vegetables. It is largely believed that the Buddha himself died from eating meat that went bad.

  • Hollywood has controlled western culture for many decades, great to see the internet and You tube giving us more and better choices.
