Lenny is a 1974 American biographical film about the comedian Lenny Bruce, starring Dustin Hoffman and directed by Bob Fosse. The screenplay by Julian Barry is based on his play of the same name.
didnt know this dude existed... just found out about him because of Louie's 3rd episode of his second season... seems interesting will watch this film and the documentary they made about him
@reelbrutha2 Its a bad argument for comedy black/white stuff. however, Billy connelly is possibly a comic who could match it with the black comic's, along with Lenny Bruce, but unfortunately for you in the world of laughter ther is no white/black - just good times buddy.
I watched this movie when I was 11 and would like to watch it again. If anybody could send a link/page - whatever, to download a full version, I would be very grateful.
Richard Pryor wasn't performing at the peak as Bruce. Foxx was, however. Both great comedians. I haven't listened enough of Murphy to gauge his talent (as if I'm someone who can).
Anyhow, Bruce fought for freedom of speech and was persecuted unlike any other. I get the argument that just because he was the first it doesn't mean he was necessarily the best. But he was a brave man who opened doors for comedians after him.
But I love the courage he showed in his life. And his humor was funny.
