That would be nice but unfortunately the universe doesn't work that way. In the end the poor killed and ate each other while the rich escaped in helicopters behind tall high voltage walls with machine gun turrets and private security forces a la Haliburton, KBR and Black Water. Why do you think they got in that business in the first place? Control the oil, control the wars, control the people when they turn on you.

And I was giving you the idealised fairy tale version of socialism, which, much like the fairy-tale version of capitalism, requires people to be self-governing. @bweazel I think you might be confusing Capitalism with Anarchy, the government can intervene in your daily life without intervening in the means of production, for example Censorship and laws governing what is considered lewd behavior, how is not being aloud to swear on television or walk around naked have to do with the means of production? And I'm a rational moderate thank you very much, what strategy you use for a given issue should be determined on a case by case basis.
