Timelapse video of my desktop as I compete (and fail) in the 17th Ludum Dare, a 48-hour video game programming competition. The chosen theme was 'Island'.

I recorded this on my laptop with limited screen space, so I'm flipping between a few different tools. In the terminal I have emacs (code editing), bash, irssi (IRC client), ncmpcpp (music player). I've also got GIMP (image editor) and Resound 2 (music editor) running.

Unfortunately I got a late start and had trouble with some tools, and was nowhere near having a working game by the deadline. I learned a few things from the experience nevertheless.

Cheers to everyone who signed up and joined the event!

  • Thanks very much! I agree it's exciting to combine these things as a creative and expressive medium. Check out the Wikipedia article on "Demoscene" for a good description of some of the people I take inspiration from.
