Bob Lefsetz is the author of 'The Lefsetz Letter.' Tens of thousands of people subscribe to his letter and he also has a weekly podcast which over 40 thousand people tune into listen. Lefsetz addresses the issues that are at the core of the music business: downloading, copy protection, pricing and the music itself. 'The Lefsetz Letter' has been publishing for the past 20 years. First as hard copy, most recently as an email newsletter and now, for the first time, in blog form.

  • @Dissiprin Couldn't agree more. Love his insights but every now and then does seem trapped in nostalgia.

  • You're a dumbass if you are looking for answers from Tommy Lee.

  • Once in a while Bob comes off as a bit of old foogey. Most of of the time I'm right there with him though.

  • BOB BOB BOB

  • @alleykattxxx ...

  • Hes a fucking dumb ass!!! Even ask Tommy Lee..

  • Bob is so right it's scary. When we live in an era where tracks are sold, and not cds, one hit wonders are king.

  • Man I wish this interview could have been the full hour! Bob and George are both great....get him on again!!!!!!!!

  • I don't think many commenters here understood this. Lefsetz wasn't saying that there aren't great bands today. He was saying that today's great bands are mostly unknown and hard to find in the profusion of lousy bands, and that the well-known bands aren't very good. The major labels have collapsed because of stealing through the internet. I disagree with him about other things not mentioned here, i.e. that bands should give away their music and make thier money at gigs selling souvenir t-shirts.

  • Thanks re/ my favorited music, yes I'm from those good old days :)

As far as Lefsetz he sometimes actually makes sense.Where he blows it is when he rails against something or someone and if they contact him and there's an exchange all the sudden he' sells out and is in harmony with them....In other words he's just a loud mouthed putz with no actual experience in the music industry.
