@smithbrain because they were gone by the time of birth of Islam, in 7th Century A.D you had Byzantine,Persian,Indian,barba­rian armies..and of course muslim armies, but no roman legions.

Eatern Rome(Byzantium) exists untill 1453 A.D.....Islam is born in the mid 6th century A.D...how can a 7th century muslim army fight roman legionaires...they are gone by the 7th century A.D..Eastern Rome(Byzantium) have different uniforms. That s the question, not if muslim armiees can defeat western armies..of course they could. But no muslim army ever met roman legions in battle,
