There is one thing Ted Grant said which sticks in my mind. People with no understanding of mechanics would not presume to advertise themselves as car mechanics. Yet people with no knowledge or understanding of Marxism presume to dismiss Marxist ideas.

What have Lenin and Trotsky got to do with Socialism? Stand firmly on their ideas by all means, Lenin saw state capitalism as desirable and outlawed all the opposition parties, and Trotsky shot all the Kronstadt strikers yelling "foreign infiltrators!" --- I mean honestly, these were bloody fascists. Trotsky had no problem with Stalin till he kicked him out, then it was teddy in the corner time.
