Certinaly beats a dog. Most burgurlars will not hang around if your pet snake is on the pourch.

@exoticsnakes I'm no snake expert, but I thought the same thing.

Hope you took her to a nice private spot. If the bulge toward her tail is any indication, she's probably gravid (pregnant).

Lovely. This is in my town. I feel so safe now.
I actually had one in my yard not long ago. You'd probably be more likely to get killed by Valley Fever, considering our recent dust storms, which is also a highly unlikely event.

That's a full grown rattler, about a meter long. For some reason I didn't try to place a scale next to him. But we've seen bigger here in Cave Creek. He left inside my knapsack.

Where abouts in Cave creek? Are they often found in peoples yards?

We have rattlesnakes just about any plce in Cave Creek except the main business area. We're used to them and appreciate when the warn by wagging their tails. But sometimes they just don't get upset and react accordingly. We also get coyotes, roadrunners, and of course javelina. (See "What kind of birdie is that?" and "Antelope ground squirrel" both also on Youtube.
