@iamayryz I wouldn't, it would be just another pathetic looking government engineered plastic car like a new Cadillac with an mp3 player in the dash. Packard went down because of mismanagement from the top from James Nance, that man ruined everything he touched, mainly because he knew little to nothing about the auto industry. After he was done at Studebaker Packard he went to to become president of the Edsel division of the Ford Motor Company.

DeserTBoB93535 You're one of a million people who know this info. My Dad was a Packard fan big time, owned at least three, maybe four. He said the Ultramatic put them out of business and Mr. Big Shot DeLorean was the transmission honcho at the time; the bathtub (make that upside down bathtubs) Packards were eyesores while the Big Three were much more stylish.

Nah, if the Twin UltraMatic was properly maintained you coulndn't even feel it shift. BTW if you listen to the video the car shifted slowly 3 times, manual tranny? T-U was a 2 speed auto. They made the best strait 8, period. The bathtubs were unique but what sunk Packard was buying Studebaker. They also assumed their debt and simply ran out of money. Too bad, I'd love to see a 2011 Patrician!

Further proof that John DeLorean's Ultramatic transmission was a dismal failure. That, plus Packard's foolish choice to stick with a flathead straight 8 long after it was obsolete, sunk Packard. The "tipping point," though, was the "bathtub" Packards of 1948-50. Those sent Packard into a tailspin from which they never recovered. The lousy Ultramatic just drove the final nails in the coffin. Stude used the B-W three band, a heavy mother, but it beat that slushbox Ultramatic!
