@MrManson94 The HAMR is designed as an Infantry Automatic Rifle (think BAR or RPK). While the barrel is cool it fires from a closed bolt which is more accurate. When the chamber temperatures reach a certain level it automatically switches to open bolt firing to prevent rounds from cooking off. This takes place in either semi or full auto fire whereas other weapons only fire open bolt during full auto.
