The world premier of songs by Mompou: Songs that were found in 2008 in a folder that was in Mompou's home, which is now the headquarters of the Mompou foundation. Canço de l'avia ( the Grandmother's song) dates from 1915 and tells a story of hope.
Testament d'Amelia is a popular Catalan folk song, this arrangement was prepared and on the manuscript is dedicated to Victoria de los Angeles but it is not clear if Mompou ever gave it to her. The Song tells the story of Amelia : Verse one, She is sick, she is the daughter of a great king, second verse the Mother says " whats wrong, and Amelia says you know whats wrong I am dying. Thrid verse the mother says confess yourself and make a will (testament), fourth verse, she leaves a castle to the poor, a castle to her brother Carlos and to her mother, her husband whom she already has and has been entertaining in chambers for sometime . . .
The third songs is Cant a la Victoria that is a short declaration for love
These songs were premiered in Barcelona on July 4th as part of the Barcelona Festival of songs
They will published later this year the Editorial Boileau.
