If someone likes this song, there is a curious version in the film "The silence before Bach" (Die stille vor Bach, in german, or El silencio antes de Bach, in spanish, the languages in which the film was made). with the lyrics changed narrating the story that tells how Mendelssohn discovered the scores of St Matthew's Passion by Bach. I highly reccommend it for curious people ;) It's in youtube , anyway!

Wow. Awesome, quaint voice there. It's so warm!!! =) Just lovely.

Yes, this song is a dream, which includes another, eternal dream at the end. It is a hymn.
Her voice is very pure honey, maybe too much honey. I love her, but she does not make any effort to understand what the poem is about. A very beautiful, but a little flat version of the original Heine-Mendelssohn poem.

wonder voice and singer. I always loved her perfect voice. but for me this is a bit too fast. the tempo should be more relaxed. although the voice is relaxed as possible.

Sublime. Un ensueño lirico.

too fast, but still nice
Thanks for including the English translation!!

Absolute perfection. Victoria de los Angeles at her best. A beautiful voice singing a "Well kent" melody. From what I know of VdlA, she too would enjoy the singing, and the song.

A lovely lilting song and sung by the loveliest voice. Well done to give us the words. It doubles the pleasure. I'm sure they are just as poetic in Chinese.

Dear Barry, Thank you for the comment. I am glad that you like it too. Yes, the chinese lyrics, by some unknown person, is very beautiful as well. I felt fortunate that this song was in our high school corriculum; that was how I knew of it. Sincerely, Wendy
