The dramatic fall of communism across Eastern Europe cannot be traced to one event, one decision, or one person. But there was a singular wind of change sweeping across the continent in 1989, blowing down the Iron Curtain, and revealing the public's yearning for freedom. RFE/RL interviewed key players in the drama, former Soviet President Mikhail Gorbachev and former Czech President Vaclav Havel, in this look back at the European revolutions of 1989.

I think the wall came down too fast, they integrated the economies of the West and East but this was done without considering how different the economies were, the centrally planned economies of the east had trouble integrating and when East and West Germany united it weakened the Deutchmark, this should have been done with time, its like if North and South Korea united tomorrow, South Koreas economy would suffer immensely, thats why 1989 was followed by a period of instability in East Europe.

Same things happening in the Middle East right now. And we must help then carry it out peacefully and with respect. All for a better world.

22 years later, the Middle East and North Africa would have this same revolution although it's doesn't involved communist, but they both share similarity in term of political freedom and universal human right. I could compare the 1989 revolution to the 2011 Middle East and North Africa. I do see similarities between the 2.
