Argentinean Luis Marquez Angel wrote and sang this song in the eighties, charted at #79 on the Billboard Hot 100.
In 1987 Luis Angel married Puerto Rican Ednita Nazario, and she recorded the song having bigger success than her then husband. The song was covered by Puerto Rican salsa singer Tito Nieves too.
The big success came in 2006 when Anais Martinez, (born Anaís Martínezon June 22, 1984 in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic), better known as ANAIS recorded it. The song won two awards at the 2006 Billboard awards for "Tropical Airplay Song of the Year" and "Latin Pop Airplay song of the year". On the Billboard Hot Latin songs it stayed six weeks at #1.
Paul Anka recorded the song at Rodven, released first in 1986 on Cantando En Espanol (AMF8029) LP, later released on CD too, available on his official site.
