The East Charleston Road Lane Reduction experiment (Palo Alto, CA), on the Charleston/Arastradero Transportation Corridor, can create long lines of traffic, from Middlefield Road to Alma Street, at times not seen when there was two lanes of traffic, The claims of the City Planning Department that reducing the previous four lanes to two (in many places) would not affect throughput, or increase queues at stop lights has not proven true, as this video proves.
