The Leatherman Super Tool 300 possesses an outstanding plier head. It is streamlined and tough with replaceable 154CM cutter teeth. It offers excellent capabilities in crimping, wire and nail cutting, bolt removal, and detail work. In many ways the ST 300 is built around this industry-leading plier head. But many other capabilities come along for the ride in this 10.2 oz heavy duty multi-tool (HD MT). As shown the Super Tool 300 contains 420HC main plain edge blade (adequate, prefer 154CM), 420HC serrated sheepsfoot blade (rescue capable), wood/metal file, saw, 8mm, 6mm, 3mm screwdriver blades, one Phillips long shank driver, awl with thread loop, 9 inch/22cm ruler, bottle/can opener, wire stripper, and lanyard ring. Improving over the also HD MT "Core," the ST 300 dispenses with any Zytel handle integration and is 100% stainless steel with no weight added. Comfort is high is this tough MT: no sharp edges show themselves in various tool usage; an advantage over some other designs like the SwissTool RS. Tool extraction uses the clumping methodology which same will hate, some will like. Lockup is tight and sure on all tools and the lock button is large and easy to actuate. Large cutouts in the handle permit glove usage. Fit and finish are excellent in the examples shown and Leatherman avoids the high polish finish on the tool and its implements. This may provide better traction on fasteners but may lessen rust resistance in high moisture/salt environs. The blackened Super Tool 300, as of 2010 (subject to change), has the advantage of an outstanding, rugged, lightweight, MOLLE-capable carry sheath that is superior. One glaring omission in the ST300 is the absence of scissors and future versions should include this (often used in medical services). Also another Phillips driver should be integrated. Value is high on both of these MTs: black #831105 is around $60, satin #831102 is around $52 (this model as of 2010 included stiff leather sheath). The ST 300 the successor to the original Super Tool (1994-2001), Super Tool 200 (2001-2005), and Core models and seem to targeted towards the working man. But with its reasonable price,, the ST 300 is a good choice for the survival kit, car, truck, backpack, or LBE vest (with light loads) and its heavy duty cutting capabilities could save the day. ////////////////////////// Nutnfancy LIkability Scale: 9 out of 10 (price considered) /////////////////// Music: http://www.archive.org/details/Torley_Wong_-_The_Final_Selection).

  • @cfogs Actually yes, search "Knife Storage by Nutnfancy".

  • Does anybody know how he stores his knives?

  • I second (or however many people have requested) nightrider2k6's request for a Leatherman Surge review. I'd like to see how you compare it to the multi-tools you mentioned in this video.

  • Seems to me that even if they had to sacrifice one of the flat-head drivers in exchange for scissors it would have been worth it.

  • i own a blast, it is a great tool and has never failed me but it just doesnt have that second kinda cool as maybe my sidekick or the charge tti that i will be getting soon

  • Dear Nutn, can you do a review on the leatherman Surge? I believe the Surge would be a better comparison vs the victorinox RS because they both have scissors.

  • Cont. actually, at the moment I am carrying my OST, even though I love the replaceable cutters on the 300, because it's thinner and sleeker, and it has a more simple and bombproof locking system than the 300 IMHO. If my OST had replaceable cutters I'd be perfectly happy. As for scissors, I do wish it had them, but I find that there are no MT scissors that can match a pair of Klein 2100-7 communications shears, and since I carry those as well, my ST doesn't require them.

  • I love the leatherman, own a charge TTi,ST,ST300,and a Micra. Love them all. That being said, I have catastrophically broken the charge twice and my original ST once...so none of them are indestructible. I love the tool layout on my charge, but if I had to take it into the field not sure if I could trust my life to it. That's why I roll with a super tool .

  • They make an accessory for the super tool to give you a 1/4" bit holder and it slides over the pliers when in use. Not sure if that's what the back sheath pocket may be for.

  • @MrHALOCOUST That's very true. You don't need that super fast opening unless you gotta stab someone. But the reason i choose the Surge over the Supertool, is because of the pocket clip on the Surge. I really don't like carrying tools on my belt, so that's why the Surge gets more carry time than the ST300

  • HMMM, if only i had a set of pliers to hold my cutter head as i sharpen it, AHHHH ill just use my......Oh........shit.

  • everyone is complaining about knives cant accesible from outside. This is not a folding knife this is a tool..Why u guys want to use crappy 420 blade that much?Carry a folder with this, its gonna be superior to st300 knives in all aspects..For me this is a repair, maintance tool not a cutting tool so st300 is my favorite leatherman.Best pliers, and screwdriver blades way better than bit driver.

  • For a full size M.T., I have the Leatherman Surge. It has outside accessible blades and huge scissors. I think it's a better choice

  • I got a cooler sheath with my satin finish super tool 300 ...

  • The only thing i dislike about the ST300 is that you don't have access to any tools on the outside. If i need a quick knife i don't want to have to open up my tool just to get to it. That's why i prefer my surge when working heavy duty.

  • Great review. I bought the black one...very happy with it...I agree with your comments, but for what I use it for, the ST300 black is perfect for 99% of the jobs I use it for. It feels very comfortable to use without gloves which was my main concern until I started using it. Its a good all round general every day tool to have by your side.

  • I personally don't like the 300, I tried using it to take off my RCO and it felt like it was going to break and it's the most painful mt i've ever used without gloves. My surge and wave feel so much better.

  • keep up the good review

  • I wish the blades and saw were on the outside, and that it had a small magnifying glass and a small gutter knife on it. Also, it'd be nice if the blades were made of something a little stronger. It'd be great if the pins that held it together had some way to easily tighten them, if needed. Maybe add some tweezers and a tooth pick. I don't need all 3 of those flat-head screwdrivers.

  • i carry the wave and the Blast. and the Blast also dosent have bits you can put on it however in the "pocket" i threw in a pair of tweezers holds them perfectly. could also throw in a toothpick. never know when your going to need one of those

  • rediculous everything you'll ever need reviewed, and molle sheath vid response, never cease to amaze

  • @dulcelake Ask for collateral when someone borrows it. Anytime I lend someone a tool I ask for something of theirs in return. I lent a buddy my multitool so he could set up a shelf, but I made him leave his ID so he'd come give it back to me.

  • @nutnfancy im gonna buy st300 but my only concern is does handles hurts your hand when u are working without gloves?(like me most of the time)

    thank for great review btw
