@TdotplusJdot by the way there's no harm in collecting one of those Best of Joker anthology books. Since batman has a extensive history some of his back story could be difficult especially now with the whole Batman Family being so large. I've had one of those books since I was 8 and it helped me a lot with the whole back story of a lot of the classic characters.
@TdotplusJdot I'd recommend Batman War on Crime by Alex Ross and Paul Dini, I suggest you go with anything with Paul Dini's name he's probably the best writer handling some the history of batman without feeling too difficulty to handle. Also Harley Quinn's origin book Mad Love, art by Bruce Timm. The Batman Black & White volumes, there are three of them but each of them are short stories. Killing Joke, Dark Victory (that's a sequel to long halloween)
Hey! Cool review man. I've finally decided to get into Batman graphic novels and tomorrow I'll be buying (hopefully) a few of the well knowns, such as Year One, The Long Halloween, Arkham Asylum etc. However, being a fan of pulp fiction/noir thrillers, Nine Lives also caught my eye. Could you either tell me if there is anything I should read prior to Nine Lives? Or perhaps recommend a good place for a newcomer to start? Anything will be appreciated, thank you a lot!
