Gotham Chamber Opera, in partnership with the American Museum of Natural History and in association with American Repertory Theater, presents Il mondo della luna (The World on the Moon) by Joseph Haydn. For the first time ever, the Hayden Planetarium will be transformed into an intimate opera house. Taking advantage of breakthroughs in laser and light technology, Il mondo della luna will fuse live opera and stargazing using the 180-degree dome with projections courtesy of NASA, immersing the audience in a completely new kind of theatrical event: an out-of-this-world experience for opera lovers, science buffs, and theatergoers alike.
This new production is staged by Diane Paulus, director of Hair, which received the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. Il mondo della luna will run from January 19 through January 28 at the Hayden Planetarium in the Rose Center for Earth and Space at the American Museum of Natural History.

This was one of the most fun and awesome nights I've ever had at the opera. (Now that I think about it, leave out the "at the opera" part). What a fantastic night. I moved to nyc to be closer to brilliance and creativity and this production confirmed I made the right choice.
A huge thank you to the AMNH for making the Haydn-Hayden thing happen. There must have been so much work done to make the night seem effortless and perfect. You guys are super. I will always love you for this!

dude that looks awesome!
and yes I realize that it is indeed a mismatched juxtaposition of adjectives when using the word awesome in relation to an opera

Bravo!
Haydn, with a comic opera, in the Planaterium. Sounds like a game of Clue. Fun!

Whoops - didn't realize anyone outside NYC would end up here. Please accept my apologies (and sympathy).

Not the US you want to live in, it's NYC - the rest of the US may as well not exist.
