Nevada Senator Harry Reid joined President Barack Obama last week to tour solar panels that generate clean energy for Nellis Air Force Base. Reid believes thousands of jobs will be created as Nevada leads a clean energy revolution with its vast solar, wind, and geothermal energy resources. "This base has been known as the home of the fighter pilot," said Obama. "Now it's the home of the largest solar energy installation of its kind in the Western Hemisphere."
Senator Reid feels the Nellis Air Force Base setting is a good reminder that some of the worlds greatest technological advances have occurred when the military is fully engaged and funding research and deployment of renewables to answer our security challenges.
Col. Howard D. Belote led President Obama and Senator Reid on a walking tour of part of the solar array.
President Obama's commitment to a clean energy future represents real action and real resources that will put us on the path to prosperity and move toward greater energy security and independence.
