My 10 year high school is coming up next month (YIKES!) and I started to get a tad bit nostalgic about the days of my youth. I decided to pop in my high school football highlight film from my senior year and watch a little bit of it. Then I had this super sick idea to put it up on the web so everyone could enjoy it.
About 6 or 7 years ago my dad transferred all of our family 8mm and VHS tapes to DVD in order to save them from future deterioration. This was one of the videos he got transferred, which is how I can bring this to you today (1997 = No homemade DVD's).
This video here is the introduction to the highlight tape. It comprises clips from all the games during that season (9-0 regular season, ranked #1 in the state). The music is straight outta the mid-late 90's and features I believe all the songs from the first two ESPN Jock Jams albums (LOL). Also, this part features every single video effect you could possibly do at this time. I am sorry if some parts make you feel nauseous.
About the quality of the video:
These videos were taken with old school camcorders that recorded directly to a VHS tape. Therefore, quality is an issue with this video(s). I transferred from the master DVD a digital copy that was double encoded to try and ensure the best possible quality. Each video segment was then cut from this copy and encoded as an H.264 file with HE AAC 64b/sec sound for the best possible video for YouTube.
Persons of Interest:
*If anyone has a problem with me naming there names here please let me know. I do not want to offend/embarrass anyone.*
No. 7 is (if you do not already know by now) quarterback Drew Henson. Played 3 sports at Brighton and pretty much was boss in all 3. Went to the University of Michigan on a football scholarship where he started one season and split time one season with Tom Brady. Drafted by the NY Yankees out of high school and played in a handful of major league games before leaving to return to football. He is now with the Detroit Lions (if you want more info on him do a Wikipedia search).
No. 42 - Dave Pearson. Held/Still holds? the school shot put record and was a beast on the varsity basketball team. Went to the University of Michigan on a football scholarship, where he was converted from a RB/LB to an offensive center.
No. 13 - Jason J. (too lazy to look up correct spelling of last name). Played safety and returned punts for Brighton. Went to Grand Valley State University (GO LAKERS!) and played at least one season there as safety/punt/kick returner.
You guys were beast, you play anything other than football? Def. want to see more

Old school. Love it. I'm going to have to break out mine pretty soon.
Also, with the Jock Jams soundtrack, i got to get up and dance around with my glow-sticks.

Ah yes, good ole' 90's music. Kinda like 80's music, only crappier!
