This acclaimed Portland, Oregon charter high school which serves predominantly students of color faces possible closure by the Portland Public Schools District. Its students and staff have mobilized to keep their doors open through a major fundraising campaign, financial reorganization and possibly a future lobbying campaign aimed at changing state charter school statutes that award poverty money to affluent schools.
