All your birds look so healthy and well cared for! Too bad i couldn't find more owners like you or i might not have had to give up raising them. In any case, Alex is adorable and your cockatiels are sweet and beautiful as well. By the way, i agree with your reply about keeping birds in cages. My Max loves his cage. He is out all the time while i am home (which is most of the time since i work at home) but he runs to his cage for comfort when afraid. It is his home and shelter!

Too bad there can't be bird parks, kinda like dog parks, like a big open area in a high caged area outside where birds can socialize and fly around.

Aw, how cute! I'd never trust my grey around one of the cockateils though - she hates their guts and wants them dead. One got out and got it's toe bitten off by her. o_o

It's the only safe place for a bird born in captivity. If released, it wouldn't know how to find food, it wouldn't recognize predators, and it wouldn't find a mate. In a cold climate, the bird would die. They're better off indoors with someone who spends time with them and knows how to take care of them.
Of course, wild birds should NEVER be taken from the wild. Pet birds should always be bought from breeders.
