Wight Winter' is a new event for 2011, following on from the success of the sell out "The Wight Ferry Sportive". The winter does not mean you should stop riding, so we have put together a sportive which will light up your imagination, fill you with Christmas cheer and keep you riding! With a short ferry ride, Mince pies, indoor feed stations, and hot drinks this is an end of season must.
So put away your turbo trainers for a day, delay the boring Christmas shopping and head out to the Isle of Wight for a enchanting festive sportive The 'Wight Winter'? The event consists of 2 shorter route options, to reflect the time of year. The Event will start and finish from just outside the Yarmouth Ferry Terminal on the Isle of Wight.

Riding this event couldn't be easier. There is a option to buy a ferry ticketed entry, for those travelling from the mainland, which includes free parking at the ferry terminal.
For those on the Island, there is a non- ferry ticked option, with free limited parking provided.

The Route: from Yarmouth, you'll be heading in an anticlockwise direction towards the colourful sandy cliffs of Alum Bay and the Needles, before making your way south. Here you'll pickup Military Road and with its dramatic cliff side views, you'll make your way up 2 of the biggest climbs on the route... oozing breathtaking views over the English Channel.

After completing the South of the Island you'll head North West right back through the centre of the picturesque island with its rolling hills, and at time sea views on both sides!

With up to 2 festive feed stations, where you will have the chance to top up your energy levels and get into the Christmas spirit with mince pies and hot drinks on offer (sorry no Mulled wine!!).

Warning -- limited spaces available due to ferry restriction, so book early.

  • I made it into the vid :) An excellent event, my 1st but not the last. Thanks to all.

  • The headwind on the way back was character building, but what a lot of fun, and so well organised!
