Outlaw Fuel Altered match race

Tim Hay's High Voltage Hayride and Travis Bouchey's Excitation in a match race at The Abilene Dodge Dragstrip 2008 Night of Fire. Tim ran 5.02 with the engine letting go in the lights, Travis went 3.97. Tim didn't cross center, but he sure scared the foam blocks.

the dragsters run a 1/4 of a mile in 4-5 sec range and they making 7000-8000 horses

Yep - different kind of car. IHRA also runs Top Fuel and Funny Car. Most of these outlaw altereds are running something like a small or big block Chevy or Ford on nitro. Hay Ride uses a 427 Chevy.

They run both, this video is on a 1/8 mile track. 167 MPH in 660' is pretty fast LOL.

Back when they were AA/ FA the cars were no more than 115" and the engine no more than 15% back of the front axle. Look at the Winged T to see the "excitmemt" they provided.

More 1/8 mile oppression....Its the reason I dont run anymore... Fuel cars are now limited 1000 ft after Kallitta death, I say preserve the sport upgrade the tracks stop stifling the action.

The reason the Altereds are not an official class is because it would cut into fuel Funnycar and dragster attention and the sponsors would loose advertising attention..

Cook cars though without a doubt!

Thats why they banned this class from the NHRA. These beasts were so fucking squirrelly it was insane with that short wheel base and all those ponies. No one has bigger balls than these crazy bastards, and there has never been another class that is more thrilling to watch. If they had not banned this class they would be running the same motors as top fuel does today for those insane crazy guys. The back ends of these things bounce like super ball's when they unhook and get sideways.
