Dr Michael Eades discusses the remarks of Dr. JoAnn Manson, who is describing the analysis of data from the Women's Health Initiative study showing an association between statin drugs and the development of diabetes
Did you see the pain in her face when she closed by saying this does not mean you should stop taking the statins? Sleep well, Dr. Manson. It's one thing for ignorant and unmotivated doctors to provide worthless or even harmful protocols, it is entirely enother for those who know better and still push forward.
I can't believe the words that are coming out of this doctor's mouth. She is hedging, minimizing and deflecting the issue at every opportunity. This would be a great video for students of communication to view and critique.
This is the equivalent of every man's fantasy: being able to yell back at the TV. Except here, you get to make the dopey woman shut her soup cooler while you fillet the nonsense she just spouted. With this awesome power comes awesome responsibility. Use it wisely, Dr. Mike.
The immediate question I have is if there is an associating with other symptoms of metabolic syndrome besides diabetes. If statins were associated with such as Alzheimer's the the flak will really start to fly. Harvard was substantially responsible through its graduates for the Wall street fiasco, perhaps this could be further evidence of a generational elite intelligence problem.
I've never seen a more brittle, nervous, unconvincing delivery! This woman is so nervous she can hardly get her words out. She's shaking, her fact is rigid and contorted with tension. Her words are delivered in fits and starts. She's laughable in her efforts to convince her audience that women who develop diabetes while on statins SHOULD KEEP ON TAKING STATINS!!!
What an idiot---not in terms of education, but she is certainly not one of the trustworthies. 5 minus stars for her.
Hi Dr. Eades, I love your blog, and really enjoyed your video format, including your video commentary, responding to the claims. Very informative and enlightening. Please keep doing these, they're fantastic!

Great update on the risk of taking Statins when the pharmaceutical companies are the ones making a profit and the patient taking the risk.
