@judygrell I think the cd I have has that bit of studio talk going into one of the songs- either this one or "Their Hearts Were Full Of Spring." I loved hearing that!

One of their albums -- released years later -- I think it was "Best of the Four Freshmen" or something like that, highlights the fact that they had to do the song over and over until they got it right! You can hear "Take 10" "Take 15" etc. until in frustration, one of the guys yells out, "C'mon John!" I always enjoyed the song even more knowing how hard they worked to make it perfect!

@judygrell I only can wish that I had the opportunity to see this group live! Truly incredible how all these great, amazing sounds were done with lots, and I do mean LOTS of hard work in the studio. I like that you bring out how it had to be done straight through, no mistatkes, otherwise- start it all over. Amazing talent and skill!

Back in the day, they had to record the whole song all the way through - no individual tracks either! These guys were great! I got to see them live twice and enjoyed every second of it!
My all time favorite. They came to Baylor in 56 and when the curtain came up they were singing "Mood Indigo". Stunning. Saw them again in San Antonio in the summer of 58 or 59 and this time they were in concert with Ted Heath, June Christy and Nat Cole. An evening I'ii never forget.

@dr37sam I'm Solid Green with envy! Oh how I wish I could have experienced those concerts. I can imagine what a way to begin a show by having the Four Freshmen opening with "Mood Indigo." The San Antonio concert must have been incredible! I recently bought a June Christy cd- "The Cool School / Do Re Mi" and she is a fantastic vocalist. Her, Nat, Ted Heath AND the Four Freshmen- now that is an all-time line up!

The Barbour's were from my husband and my home town. They even played at his after prom party. Heard and saw the original several time, and even have heard the "new" Four Freshmen, who are good, but not like the original. RIP Ros Barbour.

@mbrougher38 How excellent that is! A double-plus- to be able to say members of the Four Freshmen are from your hometown AND to have seen them in person! It's nice to be able to hear their music on record or cd, but to see the originals in person would have been such a fantastic experience- wish I had that honor!
