A work for Cellos, Woodwinds and Electronic Synthesizer, inspired by lines from a poem by J. Dyer, entitled "At the Dog and the Duck." The two lines are "I become a saint of the senses," and "Crickets sing in a circle," which are translated here into French: "Je deviens une sainte de sens," and "Grillons chantent dans un cercle." Woodwinds and electronic media precisely mimic the musical rhythms of these lines, and transform them, melodically and temporally, in harmony with other material. Primary motifs and and melodies consist of 4-note, 7-note, and 14-note combinations. The 4-note and 7-note motifs are derived from the lines of poetry, while the 14 note motif, an expansion of the poetic conceit, opens the work, in slow procession, played by the cellos, woodwinds and piano. After the exposition, the material is handled electronically with a wide variety of timbres.
