A quick trip around the store on 23rd december just before closing time.
This iconic 10/10 store closed on 27th December. My husband worked there and took this before it became empty and totally bare.
He loved his job, loved the people he worked with and is very sad to leave.
Thank you to all who he worked with all the loyal customers over the years and esp the store manager for being such a great boss.
Thank you xx

  • Where was this store located? I remember visiting a three story Woolworth across and down the street from Boston Common and Beacon Hill, not too far from the theatre district and Chinatown. I was impressed with so many floor in a Woolworth store. I really miss the charming little Woolworth stores which were everywhere at one time. Thanks for the video. What year did this store close?

  • @Alexaklr This woolworths store was the one in Boston, England :-) It closed at the end of 2009 with the loss of 30 jobs to the town, one of which was my husbands. He is the camera guy for this video. He worked there for 4 years and the store and staff were like one big family. We have a discount store there now and some of the Woolworths staff work there, but most have moved on. It isnt the same as Woolworths and the store is much missed in Boston. Thank you for watching :-)

  • wow a blast from the past at downtown crossing

does the woolworth buliding still exist?

  • Yes it does :-) But now it is a discount pound shop trying to be Woolies called QD ! Same red frontage, even some of the same staff, but not the same atmosphere or quality as Woolies.

  • @twistywillow Thanks so much for the reply. I guess we should remember our postings are worldwide these days. Of course, being a citizen of the U.S. A., the first Boston I think of is the one in Massachusetts (New England). Yes, I knew there were Woolworths and Boston in England, too. blush, blush Now if you said the store was in London, I would have immediately thought "England", even though there are other Londons in the world. Thank you so much.

  • do you a name of this place or address
