I was in this storm with three children in the house ; therefore never saw this coverage. This barely does it justice but it was very interesting to see it even after all these years. We always felt it was strange it was called the Windsor-Locks tornado since ninety homes and three deaths occurred in Windsor. But the financial losses at the airport were tremendous and apparently counted for more.

I've seen the pictures from Poquonock and you are correct. The damage in the neighborhoods near the elementary school was substantially worse than what happened near the airport. I'm not sure why there was no footage from those neighborhoods that night I assume it's because it was difficult for the camera crews to get back there with all the debris and also remember back in 1979 they were shooting on film so editing took much longer than it does now.
