This is wonderful! Thanks for sharing, Stacey. Your son is so talented! "Start of something new" indeed. My nephew (6 yrs) has ASD and his teacher says that writing is his thing :-)

This is a great performance! It's important for people to realize that people with autism are not "stupid" or "retarded". Even though autism is classified as a learning disability, most people with autism have average or above average intelligence. It's mainly a difference in how the brain processes sensory information. People with autism have their gifts and talents which should be nurtured. Too often they are discriminated against because people underestimate their abilities.

I'm a mum of 3 children on the autistic spectrum. My eldest girl who has aspergers is also very much more at home in front of a large audience than she is with one to one conversation. My daughter is Rosie from the BBC's my autism and me film. People with autism are the best kind that I have met because of their honest and straightforward personalities. check our website to find out about our autism friendly children's books. sharonkingbooks. Thanks!

This is awesome! I work with kiddos with autism in the early grades and this is exactly what people need to see. Don't hold your kiddos back, this is perfect :D Way to go mom!!

@musicdocumentary Aww that is the sweetest thing anyone has told me in a long time. Then I looked up and cringed at how many typos I made above! Can I blame it on being sick? = ) Anyway thanks so much. You made my day.

Thank you for uploading this video. I too have a 14 year old son with Autism who's had extensive treatments conventional, holistic- any & everything to give him a chance @ survival in mainstream society & it has paid off. He didn't talk coherently until 6- we can't seem to shut him up now. LOL He's reading, testing academically, independently does laundry etc, & has one comedic personality- a testament of hard work & what God can do.
Pe@ce & Blessings,
Indigo
@underglow60 ...it is very sad that you would take an undeniably sweet moment in this boy's young life and deem yourself knowledgeable enough to make that statement while not knowing a whit about this child or his family. Do you seriously that i would jump on the "autism" bandwagon if it were not true? This child has been in an intensive early intervention prog since he was 2. We also have plenty of video showing how he was unable to talk until he was 5. You should be ashamed of yourself.

This is a wonderful video! My son is 2 1/2 and has autism and with lots of therapy clinical and at home he talks more and more. My son loves to sing and I find thats when he does most of his talking. I wanted to cry today cause my son took my hand lead me to the kitchen and said "hungry". Thats was the first time he told me that he was hungry :). This video definetly gives me hope! Thank you so much.
