Pie & Mash

Pie and mash (a minced beef pie with mashed potato spread around one side of the plate and served with parsley sauce - known as liquor) is traditional working class fare, around since the 18th century and still to be found in south and east London. Luigi Manze (whose family emigrated from the town of Ravello on the Italian Amalfi Coast in 1878) opened this Pie and Mash shop at 76 High Street Walthamstow E17 in 1929.

My family have been eating Pie &Mash from the Walthamstow Market shop for generations. I haven't eaten it for many many years now. I really miss it.

@Diomedes1962 ...everyone in England loves pie and mash!! Tradition through out the country. Pie and Mash is not just a Cockney thing...its English through and through!! Every one just adapts it.I like Pie, Mash and mushy peas! Lush!!

I live near the Tower Bridge Road Manzes. I'm vegetarian. It's brilliant that something so traditional does a veggie pie when so many so-called modern restaurants can hardly be bothered. Good soya protein pies. If you've got veggie mates, take them! I've even had friendly emails from the owners to assure me of the veggie-ness of them. They know good service.
