Staff Sergeant David Phariss is just one of the 1.5 million soldiers, veterans and their families helped by the VFW Foundation in the last year. He returned from 18 months in Iraq to a marriage that was ending. Unable to provide for his girls, he volunteered to serve in Afghanistan, but his tour was cut short by a virus that required months in the hospital and permanently damaged his heart and lungs. He returned home to a mountain of bills, an eviction notice, and no job. But, thanks to an emergency grant from the VFW Foundation's Unmet Needs program, he was able to get back on his feet. The VFW Foundation is there to support those who deserve it most. But their services depend solely on your donations. Our troops always step up, now it's your turn to "Return the Favor."
