Blame must have been a late bloomer. Or started his racing career too late into his 3yr.old season to have raced in any of the 2009 Triple Crown races. Because if he had raced in any of them? There's not a doubt in my mind he would've laid Mine That Bird, Rachel Alexandra, and Summer Bird. The three Triple Crown race winners, all to waste.

After defeating Quality Road in the 2010 Whitney Handicap at Saratoga. Without a doubt, the best conventional dirt colt in America, and the second best horse in America. The only one I'd rate higher than Blame is a big, behemoth mare from California that's now 18 for 18 lifetime.

I'll tell you what. The Clark Handicap may have been a Grade 2 race. But it was pretty much all Grade 1 company that Blame handled in this race. Beating Einstein, a multiple Grade 1 winner on all three surfaces. Misremembered, Santa Anita Handicap winner. Etched, Meadowland's Cup winner. Plus horses in the field like Giant Oak, Timber Reserve, Bullsbay, and Demarcation. A tough field of competitors that Blame beat in the Clark Handicap. IMO.

When Blame and Quality Road square off later in the summer in the Whitney Handicap at Saratoga, that should tell people a lot about how real this colt's possibilities are at winning the 2010 Breeders Cup Classic. Personally, I think Blame may be the most dangerous colt in the field to Zenyatta's or Quality Road's chances at winning the Classic crown. He absolutely loves conventional dirt, and most especially the track surface at Churchill Downs. I think Blame has a very real shot at winning. JMO
