A new research center exploring the science underlying a potential new treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder has been established at the University of Rochester Medical Center, thanks to a $10.5 million award from the National Institute of Mental Health (http://www.nimh.nih.gov/index.shtml). Rochester will serve as the hub of a five-year collaborative effort that includes six institutions around the nation and in Puerto Rico.

  • @MrOurkid i agree with you if you only have OCD but if you have 1 of the common things that come along with it or if OCD is a side effect of something else then walking in the street is really hard... I.E. if you have aspergers, bipolar, multi personality disorder you'll probably have OCD as well & if you do you cant go out so easy.. If you have OCD by its self or with depression then its no problem

  • you should definitely check out ocdmesh.com.. great source of information.. help it build its online presence by subscribing to its feed, liking, sharing, and commenting.. enjoy! :)

  • @MrOurkid i agree. its not like that

  • i wrote this fast, bad spellings - noted (i am smart honest!)

  • intellegent lady - but i think have it it wrong in regards to risk taking. The only avoidance behaivours of OCD sufferes is that of specific fears, i.e becoming contaminated, rituals performed in the ear harm may come to others unless things are done in a specific way etc.. General risk taking on all other parts of life is not a problem to OCD sufferes, i.e risking injury playing in extreem sports, risking been attacked walking alone through a gang niegbourhood, is no big concern etc..
