  • That's funny, I always imagined smoke rising an disappearing, sort of like from a cigarette. Of course the second movement is pretty much pornographic.

  • This piece is very lighthearted and quick. It easily reminds me of droplets of water falling from the canopy down to the mossy floor, enroute hitting other plants and the light reflecting causing other dance and play between high pitches reaching for lower notes and rolling around in between.

  • I would say the 10th sonata sounds like the most hedonistic orgy. This sonata sounds like a prayer, at least in the beginning. The second movement can sound hysterical in the wrong hands, but I don't think it was meant to sound out of control.

  • a pure reverie followed by a transcendental triumph ~ ~ you are so imaginative!!

  • i would say the 5th sonata is pornographic(think horowitz said something like, when he was performing it,he would imagine.."focking the audience"...LOL).. this sonata is far too ephemeral to be pornography(imho)...i find it,rather to be an expression of timelessness and triumph overe death...the ending i think is on a par with wagners main motif of tristan and isolde(and same chords funnily enough more or less)in terms of pure, unbalanted joy...what a wonderful piece, and played superbly here!

  • Excellent !!!

    High precision and great interpretation.

  • @mackbox123: I have heard Gavrilov's version. It was the live recording on radio. So amazing because Gavrilov is whymsical as in usual, but he exaggerate the risks of a performer to explode on the stage with his powerful sound .

  • have you heard andrei gavrilov's version

  • Your Sonata No. 4 is the best ... at least of all on YouTube.
