A tribute for the M1911 Pistol
100 Years and still going strong ! ! !
A lot of thought and planning went into this video. I want to thank my brother for helping with ideas and editing. He is currently serving with the Marines in Afghanistan.
My Grandfather was issued a M1911A1 during WorldWar II. When his ship came under attack and was struck by a kamikaze he was one of the only surviving officers aboard. He used his sidearm in a "different" way then what most would think. During all of the confusion he drew his M1911 and shot 3 rounds into the air. That got everyone's attention. He then organized a fire fighting crew. After hours of trying to put the fires out the ship's internal magazine ignited. The explosion started to a split that ran down the keel. He gave the order to abandon ship as it began to sink. He gave his life vest to a wounded sailor who was having trouble staying afloat, and then sought to the wounded. After treading water for 24 hours he and what was left of the crew were rescued.
I remember asking him when I was only 8 years old if he was a hero. He said " I'm no hero. I was just doing my duty. " and now, years after his death I realize those were the words of a true American hero.
The M1911 is hands down my favorite pistol of all time. The history and popularity of this classic make it second to none.
I hope you all enjoy this tribute I put together.
The pistol in the video was an Auto Ordinance Army Model M1911A1. My brother bought it used and it was pretty beatten up when he got it. It had several worn parts most of the internals were just shot out, but after some fierce gunsmithing I had it running good as new with 100% reliability.
I have to give this forum credit for using its pictures heres the link. http://forums.1911forum.com/showthread.php?t=232209
Music from the HBO series John Adams. It was a good series and must see if you have not watched it.
I mixed the music from these 3 songs
1 Opening Titles
5 Leaving for Philadelphia
11 Battle At Sea
Enjoy, and comment.

@cesarg2784 almost any gun store. They are arguably the most popular pistol design out there. There are so many manufacturers of 1911's that I couldn't list them all if I tried.
