In 1964 two high school friends, Brice (Bruce Campbell) and Cleveland (Christopher Howe) leave their suburban neighborhood in Michigan to spend the summer in the countryside before going off to college. They are befriended by a lonely farmer, Jack Bodell (Perry Mallette), who offers them a place to stay. As days pass, Cleveland helps Jack around the farm and finds in him the father figure he lacks, while Brice falls in love with a local girl named Cindy. The unforgettable summer ends too soon, but the memories linger. Four years later Brice and Cleveland drive up to Jack's farm and learn that there is no going back.

  • I love the fact that they "aged" bruce simply by adding a moustache, genius!

  • Actually Bruce grew that mustache and they made him younger by shaving it off. The end was shot first.

  • My dad is Chris Howe

  • @marksiwel usually when Bruce says that it leads to him having to chop off his own hand and attach a chainsaw to his arm; brokeback nothing.

  • No kidding! I lived in Bad Axe until '96 and never knew anything about the man until '98 or so. My aunt and Go figure.

  • Yeah, I live in the middle of Caro, Cass City and Deford and never knew this movie was filmed around here. And I'm a huge Bruce fan. Some of those scenes are filmed 1/2 mile from my house!

  • LOL I dunno who Bruce Campbell with a mustache reminds me of most; Jim Carrey in 'Me myself and Irene' or John Cleese in 'Fawlty Towers'.

  • holy shit!!! most of that was filmed in my hometown! CASS CITY

  • Actually purchased this thing because it wasn't on Netlix. It's not a bad little film, but the commentary was what really made the purchase. To see even a film of this scale have such interesting stories behind it was a cool thing.
