This video was filmed in early June during the first flood scare and evacuation in Minot. We thought that we had been spared by the flooding of the Mouse River. Little did we know that the real disaster would take place in less than a month.
The North Dakota State Fairgrounds was inundated with water as the Souris River flooded the city of Minot as well as many of the other communities in the valley.
The crest hit on Sunday, June 26. As of Monday, July 11 the Fairgrounds were still covered in water forcing the cancellation of the 2011 State Fair.
Monetary donations are being accepted by the North Dakota State Fair Foundation. Donations will go towards the cleaning and restoration of the 17 damaged buildings on our Fairgrounds.
You can donate by credit card on the NDSF Foundation website or by mailing a donation to NDSF Foundation, P.O. Box 1796, Minot, ND 58702.
