There was no democracy there before we arrived. I kinda like to think that we helped bring that about for the Iraqis :)
In purely practical terms, the only ones we shot were the ones who attacked us first. We'd have been perfectly happy to go from point A to point B with no confrontation - any fight was something that they initiated; we just responded in kind, and better.
