I don't see any dancing in here, and I'm sure Arabs have much more vulgar forms of dance and music.

The point here is Mappila songs have a very religious origin, as a means of inspiration of the local population against the Portuguese and later British colonial invaders. The lyrics were very meaningful and are held in great respect unto this day.

This song has nothing to do with Mappila music. Its just a marketing gimmick to sell the videos amongst muslims in the Middle East

@mappilakty Contd.. 4get Arabs,evn Indian Muslims do not lik der women doing al this.Arab's would laugh at it,if sumone tells them this is influenced by Arab culture.Muslim women are supposed to be modest & simple.They've bn ordered2follow Hijabso that they dont attract men.So wearing Hijab hw cn they do this singing & dancing?Music itself is prohibited in Islam.And singing& poetry has to be only in d forms wher its done2praise almighty Allah,den what r they doing here in name of Muslim cultur?

mappila are the muslims of Kerala. mappila history is unique do to influence of Arabs on their history, lifestyle and culture. This led to a unique style of music called mappila songs, but this video is not in the true mappila style. Patturumal is a show where the songs should be mappila songs. Its not a rule but most of the contestants are muslims. search sheeja in youtube to see a non-muslim singing a true mappila song very beautifully.
