Hi!

I can't update my bios on eee 901, and the eee just giving me this message "Can not read the BIOS image file to update the BIOS. Keep using the current BIOS. Please press power button to shut down the system." I've tried to update via a USB, but that doesn't work either. Do you have any ideas?

!!WARNING!! If there is nothing wrong with you pc/laptop ,like no error no driver problems no any kind of problems at all. Then don't update your BIOS at all. !!WARNING!! go to you pc/laptops brand name website e.g. ( toshiba,asus,sony) and fine your laptop model. then got to driveresoftware updates area. finde the newest BIOS update (if there is one) usually it will tell you what its going to update. like maybe it will update some new sound cards just released, or maybe some bugs fixed.

And using ASUS Update (or any Windows BIOS update utility) is just suicide

It's like a 5% success rate I think (before I knew anything about BIOS', I updated my board through Foxconn Update Luckily everything was fine and no problems Also considering I was on a very crash-happy unstable Windows7 Build 7000, and with a heavily overclocked Celeron D, loads of BIOS values changed, didn't even nead to clear CMOS or load bios defaults, just when it started up, needed to press F1.

I guess I was lucky!

How do you know which bios to update. I recently purchased a 1000he Asus. I have not got a clue on how to make updates with this netbook. I have a HP laptop and updating that is so simple.

I would not be touching any bios that is for sure. Best to contact the company and ask them why bios?? and if they are really required>>

Well if i can read it right, it looks like the bios image you downloaded is corrupted, retry with another downloaded image.
