There is no ferromagnetic core in the toroid, the core is just some 100 windings of ordinary wire. There are three perpendicular windings wound on that core coil and they are switched on sequewncially one right after another to imitate a rotating DC field as if a magnet with its poles parallel to the core windings would run though that core at high speeds.

  • There is nothing fancy there. I use a cd4022 chip which is a divider chip set to divide the input signal from signal generator into 3 sequential outputs . These three outputs are then connected to MOSFET drivers and those turn on and off the MOSFETs at frequency 3x lower than the input frequency and a duty cycle of 33.33% The frequency is around 200KHZ and the led is connected straight to the core winding
