Master silversmith John Marshall and Seattle Art Museum Associate Conservator Liz Brown talk about how to best preserve his work and how conservation relates to an artist's original intent.

In August 2011, the Seattle Art Museum premiered "Here and Now," an exciting, frequently changing exhibition space for new acquisitions.

The first new acquisitions to welcome our visitors are gleaming silver tea and coffee services representing three decades of Marshall's career. Marshall's services blend traditional vocabulary—such as towering, vertical coffeepots and shorter, more horizontal teapots—with his evolution of individual expression.
