Tyrone Power, one of the last of the silver screen's great matinee idols of the 30's, 40's & 50's. He died very young and way too soon.

  • I DO NOT THINK GEORGE CLOONEY OR BRAD PITT OR ANY WERE NEAR AS HANDSOME AS TYRONE POWER. I LIKE GEORGE CLOONEY MORE FOR HIS VOICE AND HIS PROJECTION OF STRENGTH IN HIS ROLES NOT FOR HIS LOOKS. BRAD PITT IS NICE LOOKING BUT HE COMES OFF AS JUVENILE IS HIS FILMS EVEN THOUGH HE IS IN HIS 40'S NOW. YOU WILL NEVER CAPTURE THE CLOTHES CLASS OR THE WAY FILMS WERE MADE BACK THEN. TYRONE WAS SUITED FOR THAT TIME PERIOD . HIS LOOKS ARE CLASSIC LIKE A BEAUTIFUL PAINTING

  • @kennopalus Amen!! You are so right...thank you for your great comment!

  • that music...I know it from somewhere...I think I did a show once and we used it but I know its from a movie....and I should know which one but it is excaping me right now

  • Thanks for your comment, music is "We're Losing Him", theme from

1980's movie "Somewhere In Time". Glad you enjoyed.

  • these stories do not make any difference to me at all. I still love to watch his films. I just love the way films were made back then. There is no one that captures that time period better to me than him . His looks and they way he dressed when you see him in pictures and different functions around hollywood are priceless. . not the greatest actor and not the the most masculine but the best looking male actor in films ever !!!

  • Mr Blackwell tells a story about having a relationship with him while he was filming the mark of zorro. He said it was just snuggling and kissing nothing else. He said he was the nicest caring and giving human being he had ever met in his life. When asked how do you think made his bisexual he aid you have to remember back then the casing couch went both way. He aid he probably was seduced by a casting agent when he was trying to break into films.

  • Anthony Quin gave a television interview and told a story about being in a film and being invited to dinner by a major movie star early in his career. He said once he arrived at the house the actor sent his assistant away and told him to go in the other room and sit down. He said the actor then came in the room behind were he was seated and made advances toward him sexually He laughed and said he didn't realize till then that he was what was for dinner . He wouldn't name the actor. Ty Power ?

  • I don't think Cary Grant Or Gregory Peck exceeded him in looks at all. I think they both projected strength and manliness . Tyrone Power's image to me is more of a young man not fully developed into a man yet. I'm talking about his earlier films before he went to fight in the war

  • @kennopalus Brad Pitt and Ton Cruise look like the box boys at the market.

I think that Cary Grant and Gregory Peck did exceed Power in looks. They looked masculine. Power was beautiful. So flawless. Male actors referred to him as the "gay boy." Never knew if that was true.

  • I have always thought Tyrone Power was such an amazingly handsome man. My interest of him was enhanced by color slides my father had taken as Chief Photographer in the Navy. Ty had come to the Philipines to film a movie and Dad was allowed on the movie set. It was always nice to see those images in my own living room when I was young. I thought he was "almost" as handsome as my Dad. :-)

  • Beautiful pictures of a true matinee idol. He was the handsomest of them all..... and a truly gifted actor as well. Does anyone know story of the ring he wore on his right little finger?

  • A beautiful tribute to the most talented/handsome actor to appear on screen and stage! The music is perfect! There will never be another Tyrone Power and there is no actor to date that can even come close! Tyrone lived during a special time when movies were full of action/adventure/romance! He was born for this time and role . . . .now he is frozen in time!

  • Back in the 1970s when long hair and hippie looks were somewhat fashionable I wanted no part of it. I wanted to be clean cut like Tyrone, plus I felt deprived in that he died when I was 2 years old. Definitly a role model for me

  • The nearest thing we have to Tyrone is his son, Tyrone, Jr. He's almost a carbon copy of his father. Don't know why he never made much of a splash in the industry. He could certainly play his father if they ever did a biopic of Ty's life.

Alain Delon in his youth was a close contender to Ty looks-wise. However, Ty projected warm innocence, while Delon projected a kind of cat-like coldness.
