Lisa and Classic Girl winning at a district competition held at Sola.

Trivia Note: This competition was supposed to be held at Sola Ryttersportsklubb but their indoor arena got flooded after somebody forgot to turn off the sprinkler system... oops! So the competition was moved to Rogaland. It was a good dry run opportunity before the indoors NM.

  • @upsidedownbrutus Whenever my friends and I do hunter shows we do. And once I did in showjumping portion of a 1 day event. ehhh. I guess it varies from show to show. :)

  • @Wilisia Jepp

  • Hi upsidedownbrutus (love the name)!

Here in Norway, it's very common for the riders to salute the judge. It's not necessarily a formal dressage type of salute (although I've seen some riders use it), more often than not it's a nod of the head to show respect to the judges and signal that the rider is ready to go.

It's considered to be polite and I've known of one occasion where a rider has been called up to the judges afterwards and reminded that they should salute in some way.

  • Really? You do? Because it says on your profile you are from the US but I've never seen anyone over here do it, even at very big shows. What area are you from?

Not sure why my comment got a thumbs down, I'm just curious.

  • Yes, you typically do. Its polite and formal.

  • i like how the rider flows with the horse over the jumps. nicely done!

  • Do you all typically salute before a jumper course? I've never seen anyone do that over here, but we do a lot of things different here.

  • very honest horse :)

    xx
